PROGRAMME

Will there be any live sessions during the congress or are all ICD 2021 Virtual sessions pre-recorded?

The keynote speaker sessions as well as symposia will be presented live.

What happens if I can’t make it to one of the live presentations?

No worries! All presentations (excluding workshops) will be recorded and will be available from shortly after the live presentation concludes. All content will be available to view until 31 December 2021. You will be able to watch any presentation at a time that is convenient to you, at your own pace, pausing to take notes, or rewinding to watch it again. Presentations will be made available from Presenters that have given permission.

Is it possible to jump from one presentation in one track to another presentation in another track?

Yes, viewers can move between sessions and presentations. Unlike in-person events where you have to choose between concurrent sessions, in the virtual format you will be able to attend/view as many sessions as you like, giving you more for your money. You may also view any sessions later.

Will I be able to pose questions to presenters?

Time will be allocated during the live keynote presentations and symposia for presenters to respond to questions from delegates. Questions can be posed in writing via the virtual chat box.

Can I download the presentations to watch later?

No, it is not possible to download the presentations. But you can watch the recorded version as often as you like from the congress website until 31 December 2021.

Are the workshops only available live or on demand?

Workshops will only be available to attend and watch live at an additional cost indicated on the congress website.

How many workshops can be booked?

More than one workshop can be booked. However, bear in mind that workshops will only be available to attend and watch live, so check the times on the programme to avoid clashes.

Are presentations available in other languages?

All presentations will be conducted in English only. There will be no translations to other languages.

Will there be networking opportunities during the congress?

Our online platform will include a meeting hub where you can connect with other delegates as well as exhibitors and sponsors. More information about specific networking opportunities will be shared in due course.

CPD

How many CPD points will be available?

The organising committee aims to secure 8 CPD points per day (thus 24 points for the 3-day conference) as well as 2-3 points for a workshop, and 1 ethics point.  In order to qualify for CPD points, a questionnaire must be completed by attendees by 24 September 2021.  More information to be shared in due course.

Can I still earn CPD points if I am not able to watch the presentation live?

You can earn points by watching recorded presentations and completing the questionnaire, which must be submitted by 24 September 2021.

IT REQUIREMENTS

What software do I need to watch the presentations?

The updated version of Google Chrome is recommended. We do not recommend using Safari, Mozilla or Edge.

Can I watch the presentation on a Tablet or other mobile device?

The conference can be viewed using a tablet. A mobile device can be used but we do not recommend it as it would not give an attendee the full virtual experience, and certain functionalities would be limited.

SUPPORT

What do I do if I’m having a technical problem viewing a session?

Online support will be provided from 1 hour before the start of the day until the end of the day’ proceedings during South Africa time (GMT+2). The help button will be accessible via the virtual platform. Should attendees struggle to access the virtual site once the access link is provided by 26 August 2021, delegates can email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for support.

If watching through a university, please note that universities often set up strict IT access control so it would be crucial for attendees to check in once the link is received to test access.
